Crisps becoming less common in vending machines

8th September 2021

The Daily Telegraph reports that one of our most quintessential snacks, the beloved bag of crisps, is becoming less common in vending machines due to the impact of the pandemic and the subsequent reduction in footfall.

Crisps have a much shorter shelf-life than some other snacks, typically lasting only 8-12 weeks before they need to be replaced. Alternatives such as vegetable crisps and mini-cheddars can have double the shelf-life, and so can be a better alternative when footfall is not at usual levels.

The article also mentions how supply shortages, stockpiling and a move to healthier alternatives could also be playing a part in this trend.
