Manchester park installs duck food vending machine

A duck food vending machine has been installed at Burrs Country Park in Bury, Greater Manchester, to promote healthier feeding habits for the park's waterfowl. This initiative addresses the issue of visitors feeding ducks bread, which is detrimental to their health and the water's quality.
The solar-powered vending machine, provided by the Feed The Ducks Initiative (FTDI), dispenses healthy duck food for a small fee via contactless payment. It aims to educate visitors on appropriate duck nutrition, providing alternatives like barley, oats, and peas. The project, supported by the Friends of Burrs Country Park, will help protect the park's ecosystem.
