Plans to turn red London phone boxes into vending machines

Timeout reports that there are early stage plans to turn some of the iconic red London phone boxes into vending machines.
Many of these red phone boxes are no longer in use, with some simply sitting empty.
One young entrepreneur has apparently approached Westminster Council with plans to turn some of the phone boxes into vending machines. This would involve removing the doors to install machines within, and a new coat of paint.
Whilst the idea has still to be given the go ahead, it's interesting to see how something that was once such a crucial part of daily life may end up entering the vending sphere.
