Asda trials vending machines to deter theft

Asda is exploring the use of in-store vending machines for high-theft items like razor blades, batteries, and perfume to combat rising shoplifting.
Building on a trial in Ashton-under-Lyne, shoppers select products on a screen, pay at the checkout, and use a ticket to dispense their goods.
There are currently no immediate plans for a wider rollout, but it's another example of the growing versatility of vending.
