Coffee sales continue to rise as tea sales fall

Sales of coffee and tea in Britain have come under scrutiny in the media lately, partly as a result of consumer goods giant Unilever signalling a possible sale of its famed PG Tips and Lipton Tea brands.
Whilst coffee sales have increased substantially over the past decade, almost doubling from £870 million to £1.4 billion, tea sales have fallen from £500 million to £450 million. Tea sales have been bolstered by the growing popularity of herbal infusions, with traditional tea seeing the fall in demand.
